“Cygnet” is a beautiful example of this David Pedrick designed cruiser from the well-respected New England builder Freedom Yachts.   Many feel that the exterior and interior layouts on the Freedom 35 are the best available in their size and class.   Features include a swim platform, walk-through transom, self-tending sailplan, easy stairway access to the interior, aft head with stall shower, all stainless-steel opening portlights, skylights, and two extra-large staterooms with Air Conditioning and Heat. On “Cygnet” a two speed electric winch makes sail handling a snap and the Flag Blue Awl Gripped hull is a real standout in any harbor.

If the motto of simple is easy then the Freedom 35 is for you. Imagine no stays, no turnbuckles, no need to go forward just speed, safety and easy sailing, isn’t it a wonder all boats aren’t thought out like this? "Cygnet" is a yacht that has been meticulously maintained by her current owner.

Recent canvas package, electronic upgrades and bottom job all add value to an already stellar package. The beautiful, varnished cherry wood below and the quality of the joinery work would cost thousands more to duplicate today.  If you are looking for an exceptional performer that is designed for short-handed sailing and offers sleeping for six then “Jersey Girl” might be the boat for you.  Call today for a chance to see her for yourself.

There are 2 private staterooms in the boat, one nicely sized v berth forward in a cabin with lots of light and storage. The second stateroom is aft and to the portside with nice opening ports and sit up lounge area great for reading. Both cabins have true double berths, storage, ventilation, natural light and lots of beautiful cherry cabinetry. Owner's family and guests will live comfortably below decks in all climate conditions with several opening S.S. ports.  Just down the companionway, the galley is a "L" shaped and located to port. It features a gimbaled propane stove/oven/broiler combination outboard, double stainless steel sinks on the center line and a commodious refrigerated icebox outboard. There are several storage lockers outboard for provisions. The Yanmar diesel is housed under the center section of the boar with the weight down low and in the middle. The aft stateroom is located just aft of the galley on the portside. There is a large head compartment located to starboard with a separate stall shower. Manual head and holding tank with waste discharge. Opposite the galley to starboard is a dedicated navigation station with AC/DC distribution panels outboard. There is a ling settee berth to starboard I the main salon with storage outboard as well as under the berth. To portside is a comfortable "L" settee with storage again under and outboard. The table is a double leaf that folds up and out of the way to the forward bulkhead. Just forward of the salon is the forward stateroom with the mast stepped over the keel inside the cabin. The interior finish is furniture grade Cherry which has been impeccably maintained.

The deck is a standout feature with a swim platform and walk thru transom for easy boarding. A 7.5' "T" shaped cockpit with seat cushions throughout has many special features including foot braces, easy access to the interior, and wide uncluttered side decks. Line of sight sailing is unbeatable. You would be hard pressed to find a better seating for both the helmsperson and crew.

The beauty of the Freedom rig is the Carbon Fiber un-stayed mast. There are no shrouds or back stays to worry about. The jib is self-tacking on its own “CamberSpar” boom. The halyards are led aft to and electric winch and sheet stoppers on the deck house. The high roached fully battened mainsail on Antal slides goes up and down with ease.

Built in stainless steel dorade vents add fresh air to the cabin even when the boat is closed up.

The mast is the free-standing, carbon fiber spar for which Freedom is so well known. The main is fully battened and has two built in reefs which are fully set from the safety of the cockpit. The jib has the standard Camberspar for easy self-tacking and self tending and this will wing out automatically on a run. Ask the broker about the Freedom "man-over-board drill" and also the safety of sailing a Freedom dead down-wind. Sail cover for the main is recent and is integrated to the sail.  The cockpit cushons are white vinyl.  There is a rigid boom vang for extra control and safety and lazy jacks control the sail and sail cover when it's lowered. Brokers Comments

I have personally sailed almost every model of Freedom Yachts.  My favorite, by far, has always been the Freedom 35.  I cruised a Freedom 35 with my wife and two young daughters for two seasons and thoroughly enjoyed the performance and accommodations of this fine yachts.  For a cruising couple it’s a very comfortable and easy boat to sail.  For a family there is plenty of room for up to six.  I can’t think of a boat under 40’ I would enjoy more!
