Built from 1/4 inch aluminum plate she is made to last- Light and strong. Maintained and upgraded in fresh water for the last 12 years; Althea is a true passage maker and outstanding live-aboard. She boasts a cat-ketch rig with a double wishbone design that requires no sheet work when tacking. Turn the wheel and you have tacked with all three sails. Designed for long distance passages, she is comfortable and fast. Her hull shape and variable pitch prop from Hundested allow her to reach speeds of 8+ knots under sail. She is comfortably handled by two, but the last owner (age 76) singled handled her throughout the Caribbean and South America.

There is a gimbaled propane stove and oven with gas shut off with cutting board tops for all surfaces. Head is port of the galley. Headroom is above 6 ft in most place-we are both 6'2". Aft up three steps is the pilot house with port side pilot berth and captain and navigator seats. All pilothouse fabric replaced this year. It provides comfortable inside seating with panoramic views for 5. Down two steps is the aft cabin beneath the aft deck with two twin bunks and lee cloths. Tracy has sailed for over 30 years. As a former winner at Youngstown Level Regatta, he met Don Finkle and built a relationship that lead to his position at RCR. In addition to sailing, Tracy has a USCG Master’s Captain’s License. He considers himself lucky to have turned my avocation into his vocation. Sharing his knowledge and love for sailing and boating in general with both experienced boaters and those new to the sport has given him great pleasure and added new friendships to his life. As a founding member of Sail Erie helped shape the group of sailors with common interests focused on cruising and educational activities in the Greater Erie area. Tracy joined RCR Yachts in late 2001 and helped open RCR Erie in the spring of 2002. Since then he has enjoyed building our Erie office as a successful part of Erie and our regions boating community. Hundreds of boats, both power and sail have been sold from this office and their owners have joined the RCR Family of owners. We continue to focus our efforts to making the buying and boating experience a good one for our customers.
